I have been accused by someone of being a pedant (but he is too, by the way), and I have quite often been known to complain about the practice of nouns being turned into verbs these days. Most recently, via my daughter, I became aware of the noun-verb tabling (sitting at a table at an exposition and handing out information).
After viewing this little video gem with the words of Stephen Fry, I renounce every criticism of grammer I have made in the past. I have, and still do, however, appreciate the beauty of words.

I don't think you're a pendant. But that is a great clip.
I love this clip too; wish I'd have had it 20 years or so ago, when the guy I was dating constantly corrected my grammar, and told me he was "dismayed by my anti-intellectual attitude" towards words, grammar, and language.
Do over!
crock: I know I'm not a pendant because I hate hanging around the necks of someone. Oops - Does that make me a certifiable pedant? I'm sure you were waiting for that response.;D
Gnightgirl: Good riddance to him. Just think about all the good stuff he missed by being such a snob.
Yes, I was trying to catch you with wry. The most annoying person is a pedantic pundit. But you're not one of them either. You're not annoying at all.
Pedant? Moi?
Okay, I admit it...
