Illinois and Massachusetts have one thing in common: the quality of their politicians.
The canonization by the media of good old Teddy sweeps the dirt under the rug. This was a, spoiled, arrogant man used to wiggling his way out of messy situations through his wealth and daddy. Putting polish over the dirt doesn't make anything cleaner:
Although a C student, he was admitted to Harvard.
He was suspended from Harvard twice for cheating.
Oops, he inadvertently signed up for 4 years in the military, but daddy got that corrected to only
2 years and no Korea time.
He was cited for reckless driving 4 times at the University of Virginia, but no license revocation
Chappaquiddick - nothing more needs to be said except - suspended sentence.
Numerous extra-martial affairs and public sex display
And then there's all his wonderful legislation that has cost taxpayers millions of dollars and headaches

Even a jerk can do good work.
ReplyDeleteA sad testament to our government, Ted (like others) proved that integrity and good character aren't important to help run this country. Heck--obeying the law isn't even priority.
ReplyDeleteDo people have short-term memories, or do they just feel so terrible about "speaking ill of the dead" that they are denying the truth?

ReplyDeletemama: If someone lies, cheats and feels he is above the law in his private life, why do people think he would act differently in government or public life? Most people are in denial.
I had the chance to shake his hand once. I didn't want to, though...I didn't know where his hands had been!
